Questions & Answers
What is life coaching?
Just as a coach works with an athlete to set goals and train for success, life coaches focus on supporting you in clarifying your goals and creating an actionable game plan to get there. Coaches help you get clarity on where you want to go and get clear about obstacles (habits, thought patterns, and situations) that may be holding you back. Coaches provide insight, accountability and support as you work toward a more fulfilling life.
Why should I hire a coach?
A coach provides you with the extra support you need to push beyond where your current state so you can operate at a whole new level. Whether you already have a specific goal in mind or a simple desire for change, the choice to work with a coach is a choice to accelerate your forward momentum. Coaches help you recognize and move past limiting situations, thoughts, and behaviors to pursue a path to success.
What is your unique approach as a coach?
I view every coaching relationship as a partnership. We are on the same team, working together on behalf of what matters most to you. As your coach, my priority is to support you in setting and achieving goals that light you up through a deeper understanding of and alignment with your values and priorities. I will bring my coaching experience and years of professional and personal experience in transition and relationship management to ask targeted questions designed to help you uncover and consider various angles and new possibilities, helping you think critically about your own perspective, wants, and needs. Together we will create achievable, meaningful action steps to move you toward your goals.
What is the client's role in coaching?
Your role is to bring an open mind, willingness to self-reflect and commitment to take action. Sometimes during the pursuit of a goal, blocks may arise (such as procrastination, imposter syndrome, competing priorities), and that's okay! I'm here to help you assess what is standing between where you are and where you want to be, and to plan manageable action steps to work through those blocks in pursuit of your vision.
What happens in the complimentary discovery call?
Our first conversation is an opportunity to get to know each other, gain a general understanding of your goals, and talk about ways I can help you. I will ask you some questions to get to know you and understand your goals, and then answer any questions you have about coaching or consulting with me. I will provide an overview of the most common ways that I work to produce meaningful results in people's lives and provide options that include a holistic approach or a more targeted approach based on your needs.
Where will we meet?
Most of my sessions take place via Zoom or phone.
What is the difference between a multi-session package and a one-time clarity call?
Multi-session packages are ideal for clients wanting to work on a longer-term goal and/or an issue that has been difficult to make progress on alone. This coaching relationship is a partnership in support of your goals, and I serve as a support structure to establish realistic, achievable action plans and create accountability.
One-time clarity calls are for acute issues that need immediate attention. Sometimes things pop up (such as immediate decisions, unexpected situations or complex conversations) and you just need the time and space to gain valuable perspective and create an action plan. I support you in gaining clarity and peace in these situations. These conversations are typically 60 minutes, but longer sessions are available as needed.
What happens in a multi-session coaching package?
Your First Appointment: Setting the Foundation
Our first appointment following the introductory call will be a 90-minute foundation session. This session will establish the framework of what you most value in this season of life and what personal and professional fulfillment looks like for you. Once this appointment has been scheduled, you will receive a confirmation email along with initial assessment forms to be completed online before we meet.
Your Second Appointment: Goal Setting
In our second session we reflect on discoveries from the first session and set inspiring, achievable goals for the duration of our work together.
Regular Coaching Sessions: Forward Momentum
In the remaining sessions, we revisit your goals, create achievable action plans, address and remove barriers to progression, adjust goals as you gain greater insight into your life, and establish patterns of self-accountability. In the final session of the package we will review progress toward your goals and talk about steps moving forward as you continue cultivating a life you love.
What is the difference between coaching, counseling, and consulting?
Coaching is all about forward momentum and is rooted in setting and achieving goals in the present and future.
Counseling, on the other hand, is often focused on healing and overcoming emotional issues from the past and present.
Consulting is a more collaborative relationship. While the foundation of coaching is helping you think through and create your own solutions, consulting complements your own intuition with an advising role, involving direct input and advice for ways to move forward.
Are our conversations confidential?
Yes, we will each sign a confidentiality agreement, and topics discussed in session will be kept private.
